Gurgaon: Police on Sunday held a road-safety meeting with around 60 bikers and warned that those found violating traffic rules would face legal action. The interaction focused on speeding, lane discipline and other risky riding practices.The meeting was held at cafes near Gwal Pahari police post. Police said a large number of motorcycle riders, particularly members of biking groups, visit the city on weekends for morning rides. Officials used the interaction to sensitise them about following speed limits, maintaining lane discipline and avoiding sudden or dangerous manoeuvres.Officials also stressed the need to consider the safety of pedestrians and other motorists while riding. “During the interaction, police told the riders that completing a ride safely depended on responsible and alert riding rather than speed,” an officer added.The meeting was attended by DCP (east and traffic) Sandeep Kumar, ACP (DLF) Vishnu Prasad and DLF Phase-I SHO Manoj Kumar. The participating riders came from Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and other areas. Police urged members of biking groups to spread awareness about traffic rules among fellow riders and lead by example by following road-safety norms themselves.The meeting was part of the police’s efforts to promote safer riding and address traffic violations and accidents involving two-wheelers. Officials said violations would invite legal action and advised riders to prioritise safety over speed.Police also emphasised that road safety involved not only following traffic rules but also taking responsibility for the safety of other road users. Biking groups were urged to encourage members to avoid excessive speeding and dangerous riding practices.
