Berhampur: Following allegations that questions of the OUHS postgraduate (MD/MS) examination were circulated on social media during the second paper on July 27, the third theory paper of the exam was held amid tight security at MKCG Medical College centre here on Saturday. A total of 154 students appeared in the three-hour exam, being conducted by Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), starting 10 am.Security has been tightened at the centre following the allegation that the questions of the second paper were circulated shortly after the start of the exam on July 27. Dean-cum-principal of the college, Hari Krishna Dalai, was also present in the halls till the completion of the exam following the suggestions of OUHS vice-chancellor Manas Ranjan Sahoo. “Today’s exam was completed peacefully amid tight security. All 154 candidates appeared in the exam,” he said, adding mobile phones and other gadgets were not allowed into the exam halls. “Mandatory frisking procedures were followed at the entry points and hall entrances. The candidates cooperated with the security personnel and invigilators,” he said.The postgraduate exam for the 2023-26 batch started on July 21. While the exam for three theory papers has been completed, the next exam will be held on Wednesday.After the alleged transmission of the question paper for the second exam, the college authorities, in an urgent notice, had warned that action would be taken against the students found in possession of any mobile phone, smart watch, Bluetooth devices, health bands, earphones, programmable calculators and physical notes, among other things. The action will include instant confiscation of devices, cancellation of paper/entire exam, referral to the university disciplinary committee and possible rustication or debarment from future university exams, said Dalai.He had also instructed the students to wear formal dress in the exam. Aprons, coats, scarves and blazers are not allowed.Govt has formed a three-member committee to probe into the alleged malpractice, while the college authorities formed a five-member committee for investigation into it, sources said.
