Prayagraj: No candidate from the Prayagraj region could break into the top 100 this time in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025 results declared on Friday.This was in sharp contrast to last year when Shakti Dubey from Naini secured AIR 1 in the Civil Services Examination 2024, bringing national attention to the city’s strong academic culture. Prayagraj has consistently produced high-ranking candidates in the prestigious examination. Earlier, Smriti Mishra, a resident of Allapur, secured AIR 4 in the 2022 examination, while Soumya Pandey achieved AIR 4 in the 2016 Civil Services Examination in her very first attempt. Anubhav Singh, son of a farmer from Handia, bagged an all-India 8th rank in UPSC 2017. Among the successful candidates in the Civil Services Examination 2025, the highest rank connected to the region was secured by Madhavendra Pratap Singh, who achieved AIR 153. A resident of Pratapgarh’s Donae village, Madhavendra is the son of railway TTE. After completing his schooling, he prepared for competitive examinations in Kota and later graduated in electrical engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Another success came from Pratapgarh’s Rupapur locality, where Soumya Sharma secured AIR 168. Soumya earlier worked for nearly 3 years as an inspector in the income tax department and cleared the UPSC examination in 2024, joining the Indian Revenue Service. He continued his efforts and improved his rank in the latest result. From Prayagraj city, Aditya Singh, a student of the department of ancient history of Allahabad University, secured AIR 508. At just 23, Aditya cleared the examination in his second attempt after completing his postgraduate studies. In his first attempt, he reached the interview stage but missed the final selection. Another success story from the city is Deabanshoo Singh, who secured AIR 564 in his fifth attempt. He completed his schooling from Boys High School (BHS) and pursued higher education at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology. His father is an assistant engineer in the PWD posted in New Delhi, while his mother is a homemaker. Likewise, Abhishek Kumar Vishwakarma of Atanpur village in Phulpur tehsil, has secured AIR 650. Abhishek completed his intermediate from Jwala Devi Inter College and graduated from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, in 2022. He achieved success in his third attempt with anthropology as his optional subject. Atul Singh, currently serving as a naib tehsildar in Jaunpur after clearing the state PCS examination, secured AIR 697 in his fifth attempt. An engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur, he continued preparing for UPSC alongside his govt service. Another candidate from the city, Prakhar Shukla, secured AIR 787 in his second attempt. A graduate of AU, Prakhar, earlier reached the interview stage in his first attempt in 2024. Among other successful candidates, Shivani Tyagi secured AIR 807. Originally from Hapur, she prepared for the examination while staying with her sister in Sangam city. Her sister is a railway officer posted in Prayagraj. Nivedita Chandra secured AIR 855 in her fifth attempt. A BTech from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Nivedita earlier cleared the UP PCS examination. She also secured AIR 1008 in the 2023 UPSC examination and joined the Indian Railway Management Service (Traffic) before attempting the exam again to improve her rank.
