New Delhi, A representation was submitted to the Directorate of Education on Wednesday seeking an inquiry into the reported discontinuation or merging of separate English medium sections in Class 11 in some Delhi government schools.
The letter, submitted by advocate Ashok Agarwal, claimed that students who studied in English medium till Class 10 are facing difficulties in continuing their education in the same medium after admission to Class 11.
According to the representation, the issue is being faced by students of CR Dass SKV in Seelampur as well as some nearby government schools in northeast Delhi.
However, there was no immediate response available from the Directorate of Education.
Agarwal told PTI that the Deputy Director of Education has assured him that the department is looking into the matter.
The letter alleged that in some schools, separate English medium sections were either not being continued or were not functioning properly, leading to students being merged with Hindi medium sections or seeking transfers to other schools.
Agarwal, in the representation, said parents and students were concerned about the possible impact on academic performance, communication skills and overall confidence of students.
The representation urged the Directorate of Education to look into the matter and take necessary steps to ensure that students are able to continue their education in their chosen medium without disruption.
