Adrian Grenier humorously addresses his absence from ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ in a new energy drink ad, joking about his character Nate Cooper and his potential availability. He previously suggested fan backlash to Nate’s portrayal might have influenced the casting decision for the sequel, which sees Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway return.

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ has become the hot topic of debate as it nears its release date. Actors Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt all joined in the sequel project years later. However, there were many cast regulars who were not asked to return. It had been a long-running debate about how Adrian Grenier, who played the iconic Nate Cooper in the first film, was not a part of the returning cast. Now, in a hilarious new ad, the actor is taking a jab at not being able to reprise his role after all these years.

The famed actor, who is also known for his work in ‘Drive Me Crazy’, ‘Harvard Man’, and ‘Affairs of State’, was recently cast in an ad. The actor was charged with promoting new energy drinks for a famed coffee distribution company. During the ad, Grenier looks directly at the camera in one of the segments and says, “You might have seen the headlines – I wasn’t asked to be part of a certain sequel, but I’m good. Really. It’s all good energy.”He then continued to make fun of his character in the 2006 film, saying, “He made a mean sandwich, he loved his girlfriend, to a point. He wasn’t perfect. So let’s leave Nate in 2006, and keep this good energy going.” Near the end of the advertisement, he jokes about still accepting the role if they call – “I mean if they call, I’m free.”The ad comes a month after the actor admitted that the backlash to his character received may be one of the reasons why he did not land the role.

Last month, the actor talked to Page Six about not being offered to reprise his role as Nate Cooper, and how he believed there was a specific reason for it. “We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it. Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it.”Nate Cooper played the main love interest and Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs’ boyfriend in the original cult classic released in 2006.
