Udupi: Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot on Tuesday said Lord Ram’s ideals of truth, sacrifice, compassion, service and harmony can strengthen peace in families, harmony in society and unity in the nation.Speaking at the Ramakatha discourse by Sri Morari Bapu, organised by the Udupi Ramakatha Samiti, Gehlot said the Ramayana conveys timeless values of truth, dignity, duty, sacrifice, love and service. He noted that Lord Ram’s life teaches people to uphold principles and duties even in difficult circumstances.The Governor praised Sri Morari Bapu as a renowned narrator of the Ramakatha who is spreading the message of love, compassion and social harmony. Through his simple and heart-touching narration, Bapu has taken Lord Ram’s ideals to millions, creating awareness about humanity, morality, service and life values, he said.Describing Udupi as a major centre of India’s spiritual heritage, known for the legacy of Saint Madhvacharya and devotion to Lord Krishna, Gehlot said the Ramakatha being held in the temple town symbolised the country’s rich and diverse spiritual traditions.Referring to episodes from the Ramayana, he said Lord Ram’s respect for Shabari, Sugriva and Hanuman reflected the ideals of social unity, equality and inclusiveness. The epic, he added, inspires people to embrace humility over ego, service over selfishness and love over hatred.Gehlot also stressed the need to spread India’s religion, culture, spirituality and life values across the world, recalling the universal messages of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah.Dignitaries, including programme organiser Pravin Kanji Tanna, were present.
