Admissions to para-medical courses open with 51k seats in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Online registration for nine paramedical courses, including BSc nursing and physiotherapy, will open on May 29 at 11am through the official portal, closing on June 11.The admission committee has announced that online PIN acquisition and registration will begin at 11am on May 29 through their official portal. Students can register until June 11, during which they must submit required certificates electronically. Help centres will verify original documentation between May 31 and June 13.Gujarat offers 51,331 seats across these nine paramedical programmes. This is notably high given that only 10,200 seats were filled last year, leaving nearly 40,000 vacant. Committee sources blamed delayed college approvals, fire safety certifications, and Nursing Council authorizations for last year’s low occupancy, as many institutions gained clearance only after admissions began.Despite previous vacancies, more than 150 institutions have sought approval for new nursing colleges or additional seats. Authorities anticipate a capacity increase of 400-500 seats by 2025.Students from arts, commerce and science backgrounds qualify for these para-medical programmes. The registration process begins earlier this year to facilitate improved admission procedures. The 51,331 available seats are distributed as follows: general nursing and midwifery (GNM), 19,901; BSc nursing, 14,936; auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM), 10,937; physiotherapy, 5,105; orthotics & prosthetics, 348; audiology, 50; naturopathy, 30; and 12 seats each for occupational therapy and optometry.
