New Delhi: Delhi Directorate of Education has opened the online admission process for filling vacant EWS/Freeship seats from Class II onwards in private unaided recognised schools operating on govt or DDA-allotted land for the 2026-27 academic session.According to a circular issued by DoE’s private school branch, applications can be submitted online till Sept 20, while the computerised draw of lots is tentatively scheduled for Sept 24. The online module opened on Sept 8.The process covers available seats in classes II onwards in eligible private schools, excluding minority institutions. Admissions will be made through a computerised draw based on the schools selected by parents and their residential address.For the EWS category, applicants must have a total annual family income of less than Rs 5 lakh from all sources and possess an income certificate issued by Delhi govt’s revenue department. Eligible BPL, AAY ration card and food security card holders can also apply. Applicants must be Delhi residents.DoE has specified age limits for each class. As of March 31, a child seeking Class II admission should be six-plus but below seven years, with the age band increasing by one year for each subsequent class up to Class IX.Only one application can be submitted for a child, and duplicate applications can lead to cancellation. The department has also cautioned parents against providing incorrect residential details to secure admission in a preferred school.Nearly 30 zonal teams will scrutinise documents of successful candidates after the draw. The circular also reiterated that schools cannot demand capitation fees or donations during admission, and violations could attract action under applicable rules.
