Bengaluru: The Admission Overseeing Committee (AOC), headed by Justice (retd) Ramachandra D Huddar, warned private medical colleges in Karnataka against collecting additional and unauthorised fees from students during undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. In a note issued Tuesday, the committee said it received complaints that some medical colleges were demanding university fees directly from students despite Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) already remitting the amount to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) during seat allotment. The committee also flagged complaints of colleges collecting caution money deposits and other fees that are allegedly not permitted under the consensual agreement signed between state govt and private medical colleges. These colleges are permitted to collect only a skill lab fee of Rs 30,000 and miscellaneous fee of Rs 15,000.Affected students were told to contact chairman, Admission Overseeing Committee, KEA building, 18th Cross, Sampige Road, Bengaluru-12.
