Ahmedabad: Senior cop Piyush Patel was given additional charge of director general of police (armed units), Gandhinagar, following the retirement of IPS officer Raju Bhargav on Monday.Patel, a 1998-batch IPS officer of ADGP rank, will hold the additional charge alongside his existing responsibility as director of state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The order was issued by the home department on Monday.Bhargav, a 1995-batch IPS officer, retired on Aug 31 on attaining superannuation. He was serving as DGP, armed units, Gandhinagar, at the time of his retirement.Patel has held several key positions during his career, including senior positions in the state police administration.The armed units oversee the state’s armed police formations and related security responsibilities.
