Varanasi: The Bhadohi police on Wednesday arrested one more wanted accused with a Rs 5,000 reward for robbing money by luring his maternal uncle’s son into buying and selling silver coins as part of a conspiracy.The police also recovered Rs 10,320 in cash from his possession. Earlier, the police arrested a sub-inspector Suresh Prasad Saxena, a home guard, Satyaprakash Yadav and a local resident, Rajbahadur Singh.According to reports, Ashish Singh Raghuvanshi, a resident of Bhairav Nagar colony in the Daulatpur Pokhra Pandeypur locality, lodged a complaint at Gopiganj police station against Amarbahadur Singh alias Murli Singh, a resident of Nonkhara Devpalpur village in the Jansa police station area. He alleged that he went to buy seven kilos of silver with his aunt’s sons Murli Singh and Rajbahadur Singh on Nov 21, 2025. Rajbahadur Singh’s friend Rajendra Singh was already present at a tea shop near the Kaulapur overbridge. He sat in the vehicle with bricks and stones in a bag in his hand. When he started asking him for Rs 5 lakh, he said that he would not give money without seeing the silver.Then, suddenly, two persons came claiming to be Crime Branch officers and took away his bag, which contained Rs 5 lakh. He realised that he was looted. In this regard, a case under sections 61(2), 309(4), 318(4), 319(2) and 317(2) BNS was registered at Gopiganj police station and legal proceedings were initiated.Acting on a tip-off, the Gopiganj police arrested Amarbahadur Singh alias Murli Singh. During interrogation, he said that he told Ashish Singh Raghuvanshi that a person was demolishing his old house where seven kilos of old silver coins were found. The silver coins were fixed at Rs 80,000 per kilo. After a week, they talked to sub-inspector Suresh Prasad Saxena, and on Nov 27 brought Ashish Singh Raghuvanshi to a tea shop near Shakti Dhaba.
