Pune: The Kalewadi Police Station on Tuesday registered a case of attempted murder against four persons for allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old man after a road accident on the BRTS route in Rahatani late on Monday night.According to police, the victim, a resident of Rahatani who works as a real estate salesman with a private company, was returning home from Pimpri on his scooter when it collided with a motorcycle on the BRTS route. Both the victim and the motorcyclist fell on the road after the collision.A police officer said the victim was speaking with the motorcycle rider when a car stopped at the spot. “The occupants of the car began accusing the victim of causing the accident,” the officer said.When the victim asked them not to interfere, the men allegedly abused him and then attacked him. “One of the accused tried to throttle the victim while the others beat him with a belt and punched him,” the officer said.Police said the victim managed to escape and later returned with his brother and friends, but the accused had fled.The case has been registered under sections 109 and 115 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigations are on.eom\mt
