Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Thursday issued notices to the chief secretary in a contempt case filed by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation over the issuance of journalists’ accreditation cards to the federation’s members.A bench comprising Justices P Sam Koshy and Narsing Rao Nandikonda, which heard the matter, also issued notices to the Information and Public Relations Department and the Telangana Media Academy before posting the matter for further hearing on Sept 16.Petitioner’s counsel Barkat Ali Khan alleged that, despite an undertaking given by the authorities before the HC to issue a circular extending the validity of the accreditation cards, no such circular was issued.According to the petitioner, instead of issuing a circular extending the validity of the accreditation cards, the authorities wrote to the TGSRTC requesting the renewal of bus passes. “Not issuing the circular amounts to willful disobedience of the court’s directions,” Khan said.
