Ranchi: Officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have arrested contractor Subham Sabu in connection with the case of illegal encroachment and transfer of land belonging to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in the citySabu was allegedly involved in constructing an apartment on the Rims plot after the land was illegally transferred. The administration later demolished the apartment and other structures raised on the encroached land.ACB registered a case under relevant provisions of BNS and the Prevention of Corruption Act against unidentified govt employees after a Jharkhand high court order.While hearing a PIL, a division bench of the high court, led by then Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, on Dec 20 last year directed state police to institute an FIR and the ACB to investigate officials responsible for the illegal activities. The court also asked state govt to fix accountability on every official involved and adequately compensate residents whose constructions were demolished. It said the expenses should be borne by the erring officials and builders.
