Guwahati: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Guwahati on Tuesday, approving key administrative and financial matters while reaffirming its commitment to cricket development across the state.The meeting, chaired by ACA president Taranga Gogoi and attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia as a special invitee, approved the Secretary’s Report for 2025-26, adopted the Treasurer’s Report and audited accounts, and passed the annual budget for 2026-27. The appointment of the auditor for the new financial year was also ratified.A key decision at the AGM was the appointment of Justice (Retd) Manojit Bhuyan, former judge of Gauhati High Court, as ACA Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer.As part of the proceedings, Assam Premier League (APL) Governing Council for the 2026-27 term was constituted, with Premananda Saikia (Ratul) and Nasir Gul Khan inducted as members for a one-year tenure.Members also observed a minute’s silence in memory of ACA member Mukut Das, APL Umpire Panel official Sonjit Das and other contributors to Assam cricket who passed away during the year.The AGM reviewed player performances, infrastructure projects and player welfare initiatives, while discussing measures to strengthen the state’s cricketing ecosystem. Special emphasis was laid on grassroots cricket, coaching programmes, youth development and talent identification pathways.The association reiterated its focus on expanding opportunities for players, strengthening coaching structures and accelerating infrastructure development across Assam. ACA officials expressed confidence that, with continued support from district units, coaches, players and stakeholders, cricket in the state would continue its upward trajectory.The AGM also underscored the association’s long-term vision of creating a stronger development pathway for young cricketers while ensuring sustained growth of the game at all levels across Assam.
