Vadodara: A fire in an air-conditioning (AC) unit at a polling booth in Godhra briefly disrupted poll preparations on the eve of voting.The incident occurred at Sharda Mandir School, where the booth had been handed over to election officials on Saturday afternoon. Officials switched on the AC due to the heat, and while it functioned normally at first, a fire broke out in the unit in the evening. The blaze did not spread to the compressor or other parts.School authorities and officials of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL) rushed to the spot and assessed the situation. Senior officials are expected to decide whether polling will be conducted in the same room or shifted elsewhere.The school houses three polling booths for Ward 10 of the Godhra municipality and one for Ward 11.
