Pune: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Pune University unit, has warned of an agitation if problems faced by students at Savitribai Phule Pune University’s girls’ hostel are not resolved within five days.In a statement issued on Sept 7, the student outfit had highlighted several issues affecting hostel residents. “Following this, the university registrar visited the hostel and assured students that decisions would be taken within a few days. However, even after 10 days, the problems remain unresolved,” Ankita Tiwari, secretary, ABVP Pune University unit, said. The issues include water shortage, poor mess food quality, biometric-related concerns, unhygienic conditions, unattended pets, broken washrooms and taps, inadequate furniture and bedbug infestation. The outfit has also demanded the formation of a mental health committee. “Concrete steps must be taken within five days, failing which ABVP will launch a strong agitation,” added Ankita.
