Mangaluru: An accused who was absconding abroad for nearly 2 years in connection with a case registered at Vittal police station was arrested upon his arrival at Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Ibrahim Batees, a resident of Kanyana in Bantwal, was named in a case registered in 2019 under Sections 427, 504, 394, and 341 of the IPC, along with Section 2(A) of the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act. He failed to appear before the court for trial and evaded arrest by staying overseas. Based on information received, Vittal police personnel, with the assistance of the immigration authorities at Mangaluru International Airport, arrested the accused when he returned from abroad. He was produced before the jurisdictional judge, who remanded the accused in judicial custody until March 7.
