AAP MP Sanjay Singh press conference on condition of UP Govt schools

Lucknow: Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday launched a ‘Fix the School’ campaign and released a special helpline number, asking people to report the condition of their schools to them.AAP MP and UP in charge Sanjay Singh appealed to residents to make videos of poor schools, waterlogging, broken roads and substandard mid-day meal food in their areas and send them to this number.Singh also presented video evidence from 55 govt schools across UP, which AAP teams had visited over the past few days.Questioning CM Yogi Adityanath over claims of transforming schools through ‘Operation Kayakalp’, Singh said the videos showed leaking roofs, broken toilets, and a lack of desks and benches in schools in districts like Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh and Mahoba.“They want Indians to remain illiterate, so they can stay a blind devotee. Yogi knows that spreading hatred in the name of religion wins votes, so instead of focusing on schools and roads, he is pursuing a politics of dividing society,” he alleged.Calling a district administration order banning outsiders from entering govt schools a “Tughlaqi farman”, Singh asked what shame govt had in showing schools if they were genuinely as wonderful as the CM was claiming they were.He said the attempt to hide the reality of these schools proved that massive corruption had taken place in the name of ‘Operation Kayakalp’.The party will show videos from four other regions on Sunday. Singh also announced that AAP will set up an exhibition of these videos and photographs to highlight the pathetic state of govt schools in UP.
