Ranchi: The Christian community observed Good Friday with deep solemnity and devotion, as the faithful gathered in churches across the city to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.At St Mary’s Cathedral, special prayers and enactments depicting the ‘Passion of Christ’ drew large crowds, creating an atmosphere of reflection and reverence.Dressed in sombre clothing as a mark of mourning, the community participated in prayer services, sang hymns and observed fast. The enactment of Christ’s suffering and sacrifice moved many to tears, reinforcing the message of love, forgiveness and compassion.“This is a day of deep faith for us. We remember the ultimate sacrifice of Lord Jesus and renew our commitment to walk on the path of truth and kindness,” said Father David Xalxo.Many worshippers also took part in processions, walking through designated routes while offering prayers. “Good Friday reminds us to forgive and embrace humanity with compassion. It’s not just a ritual, it’s a way of life,” said Maria Lakra, who took part in the service at St Mary’s Cathedral.Church authorities, along with the local administration, ensured smooth and peaceful arrangements across the city. From early morning services to afternoon sermons, the day remained steeped in spiritual reflection, uniting the community in faith and devotion.
