Mumbai: TA Associates-backed OmniActive Health Technologies, announced the launch of Fenavari, a proprietary, botanical ingredient designed to support women through hormonal changes associated with perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause in India.

The product combines standardized fenugreek (Trigonella foenum- graecum) and shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) to provide improvement in menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats while improving hormonal balance.

Under trials, the nutraceutical ingredient showed over 50 oper cent reduction in hot flashes, night sweats compared with placebo. Participants also reported improved hormonal balance, marked by increased estradiol levels and reduced follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels.

The clinical study, involving 138 volunteers from India, was published in the academic journal Women’s Health Reports.

“Fenavari utilizes phytochemical profiles of fenugreek and shatavari, using HPLC method. This integration enhances their complementary phytoestrogenic and adaptogenic properties, allowing for a more comprehensive approach to wellness for women entering their midlife and beyond,” said Abhijeet Morde, Vice President, OmniActive Technologies.

The launch marks the US-focused nutraceutical manufacturer’s entry into India’s women’s health category, who presently markets OTC brands like ‘Capsimax’ and ‘Gingever’ targeting weight management and mental health.

With Fenavari, it is looking to target the growing post-menopausal health segment, amid rising life expectancy of women. Currently, the average age of menopause in India is around 46 years, while life expectancy is estimated at nearly 73 years.

OmniActive has been on the radar of several PE investors and according to a report by The Economic Times, TA Associates and it’s other promoter Sanjay Maiwar, have explored offer made by Swiss suitor EQT.

Previously it also attracted interest from a consortium comprising Singapore’s Temasek and Novo Holdings, which reportedly valued the business at up to Rs 5800 crore.
