Gurgaon: Haryana Directorate of Medical Education and Research has warned private medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy and paramedical colleges against charging students fees beyond government-approved rates, cautioning that violations will invite legal action.
In an order issued by director Dhirendra Khadgta, the directorate directed all institutions to comply with the prescribed fee structure for their respective courses and academic sessions.
The directions prohibit colleges from demanding, collecting or recovering amounts exceeding the fees authorised by the competent authority. The restriction covers all fees, deposits and other charges, regardless of the name under which they are levied or whether they are collected directly or indirectly.
Institutions have been directed to prominently display the approved fee structure on their official websites and notice boards to ensure students and parents have access to accurate information about the cost of their courses. Colleges must also issue receipts for every payment collected and maintain complete records of fees and other charges. The order bars institutions from introducing additional charges under different names or adopting alternative arrangements to circumvent the prescribed fee structure.
