Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has reopened the pedestrian subway on Sayyajirao Road, providing a safer crossing facility on one of Mysuru’s busiest roads.Built nearly a decade ago, the subway had remained shut because of safety concerns and was opened only during Dasara in 2025. MCC commissioner MK Savita inspected the facility and reviewed safety measures before it was reopened to the public.Sayyajirao Road witnesses heavy vehicular traffic, particularly during Mysuru Dasara, making it difficult for pedestrians to cross safely. MCC expects the subway to ease pedestrian movement, reduce accident risks and ensure smoother traffic flow. The facility has also received an aesthetic makeover, with artwork added to its interior walls. CCTV cameras have been installed to enhance security, while waste bins have been provided to maintain cleanliness. The subway is expected to benefit residents, shoppers and visitors, particularly during major festivals and public events when traffic increases considerably.MCC has appealed to citizens to use the subway instead of crossing the busy road. It has also urged users to keep the facility clean and protect its artwork and other amenities.
