Times News NetworkNagpur: The family of a deceased Central Railway employee has received financial assistance of Rs 1 crore under the Railway Salary Package (RSP), in what has been described as the first such settlement in Nagpur Division.A cheque of Rs 1 crore was handed over to Archana Surkar, widow of Naresh Surkar, who worked as a track maintainer at Kalmeshwar, by divisional railway manager Vinayak Garg and SBI DGM Shashi Ranjan on Thursday.Railway officials said the RSP provides insurance and other welfare benefits linked to the salary account of railway employees. In case of accidental death while in service, the package provides financial assistance to the employee’s family.The Rs 1 crore assistance is expected to provide financial security to Surkar’s family. Railway officials said the settlement was facilitated through the efforts of the personnel department and Staff Welfare machinery, which guided the family through the claim process.Senior divisional personnel officer RR Iyer, SBI regional manager Manish Samdarshi, SBI branch manager Hitesh Kapse, and chief staff & welfare inspector Virendra Sardare were also present at the ceremony.
