Sasaram: Additional District Judge Balajindar Pal in Kaimur on Friday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a man in a 2015 land dispute case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts. In default of payment, they will serve an additional one year of simple imprisonment.The convicts, identified as Ram Vilas Pandey and Teerthraj Pandey, both residents of Purushottampur village under Chainpur police station area in Kaimur district, were found guilty of the murder of Kishun Gond.Special Public Prosecutor for SC/ST cases Sanjay Kumar Singh said the case was registered on Aug 12, 2015, on the complaint of Arjun Gond, the deceased’s brother.According to the prosecution, the incident took place at around 10 am in a field to the north of Purushottampur village, where Kishun Gond and others were uprooting paddy seedlings at the instance of Srinivas Pandey. The prosecution said Teerthraj Pandey and Ram Vilas Pandey arrived at the spot along with another person, carrying weapons.Teerthraj allegedly exhorted the others to kill Kishun, following which the accused assaulted him and fractured both his hands. He also suffered serious internal injuries.When Kishun’s daughter, Hirawati Devi, intervened, she too was allegedly assaulted. Kishun’s condition subsequently became critical, and he was being taken to Varanasi for treatment when he died on the way.The prosecution said Kishun and the accused had been involved in a land dispute before the incident.The court pronounced the verdict after the completion of the trial, nearly 11 years after the case was registered.
