Jammu, Sept 25: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday observed the birth anniversary of party ideologue Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya with programmes in Jammu and Srinagar.
At the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, BJP J&K President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, along with other senior party leaders, paid floral tributes to Upadhyaya.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma recalled Upadhyaya’s role in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and referred to his philosophy of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya.
He said Upadhyaya’s ideas continued to inform the BJP’s approach to welfare and social development.
In Srinagar, BJP J&K General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul paid floral tributes at the party office in Jawahar Nagar. Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, BJP Vice-President Dr Shahnaz Ganai, Secretary Arif Raja and other party leaders were present.
Koul spoke about Upadhyaya’s life and work, highlighting his emphasis on service, social unity and equality. He also called upon party workers to familiarise themselves with his political thought and principles.
Similar programmes and tributes were held at various organisational levels across Jammu and Kashmir.
