Prayagraj: Students pursuing Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) will now learn artificial intelligence (AI) as part of their regular syllabus, a move aimed at enhancing their technical competence and preparing them for future challenges in the healthcare sector.Vice-president, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi, Dr Jashubhai H Chaudhary shared these views as chief guest during the inaugural function of a faculty development programme (FDP) on ‘Effective implementation of B Pharm curriculum as per NEP 2020: Challenges and opportunities’ organised by the United Institute of Pharmacy (UIP), Naini, in association with PCI, New Delhi, on Monday.Dr Chaudhary said that PCI has made significant changes in the B Pharm syllabus in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the inclusion of AI is one of the most significant reforms. He announced that to ensure effective implementation of the revised curriculum, PCI will carry out a nationwide training programme for pharmacy teachers through FDPs, workshops and hands-on sessions.Speaking as guest of honour, chairman, UP, PCI, Sandeep Badola said that the revision in the B Pharm syllabus will open new avenues for research and employment for students. He appealed to pharmacy teachers to implement PCI initiatives at the ground level so that students benefit at large.Vice-Chancellor, United University, Prof. AM Agrawal said that with the new NEP-focused curriculum, future pharmacists will become the most sought-after healthcare professionals. He noted that India has emerged as one of the most preferred destinations for healthcare globally and pharmacists have a vital role to play in this transformation.
