Prayagraj: North Central Railway (NCR) has intensified its efforts to ensure the supply of safe, clean, and potable drinking water to passengers and railway staff across all the stations over its three divisions—Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra.Through continuous water quality monitoring, residual chlorine checks, and routine bacteriological/chemical testing, health inspectors are conducting regular inspections of drinking-water points, platforms, water coolers, and RO systems. Any operational or cleanliness deficiencies identified are immediately referred to the Engineering and Electrical departments for swift rectification.During the last week, 2,036 tests have been conducted over NCR. Bacteriological testing of water samples has also been conducted, while a total of three chemical tests were conducted in Agra division during this period.Under a special drive initiated on Aug 20, NCR targeted the cleaning and disinfection of 8,766 overhead, underground, and PVC water tanks across its divisions. As of Sept 18, a total of 7,959 water tanks have been cleaned, achieving 90.79% progress.
