Bengaluru: In a major, coordinated operation, police and Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) authorities are set to deport 160 illegal immigrant Bangladeshi nationals from Bengaluru Monday morning. The exercise, one of the largest in recent months, is being executed under the oversight of the FRRO and law enforcement agencies.Official directives issued by the FRRO required police divisions to mobilise personnel to secure, escort and manage the logistics for the multi-agency operation.According to officials, the Bangladeshis are in designated shelter homes and holding facilities across Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru and Gadag. They have to transfer the group under tight security. A dedicated flight carrying the 160 individuals, including seven from Chikkamagaluru and Gadag, is scheduled to take off from Bengaluru at 9am.Upon reaching the designated border region, police will officially hand over the detainees to a battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) to complete the pushback process.While a majority of the detainees were apprehended across Bengaluru precincts, including Bellanduru, Beguru, Varthuru, Bandepalya and Marathahalli, the crackdown extends into the districts of Karnataka.Officials confirmed that security forces across the city remained on high alert through Sunday night to ensure smooth transit from local shelters to the airfield. On Aug 31, the Electronics City division police had escorted 31 Bangladeshis.
