Chandigarh: Former Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on Sunday alleged that over two-thirds of sanctioned doctor posts in govt medical colleges and hospitals were vacant, affecting patient care and medical education.He blamed the vacancies on what he called the govt’s “faulty policies” and said building medical colleges without appointing doctors and other staff would not improve healthcare.Chautala claimed more than 2,500 of over 3,500 sanctioned teaching and OPD doctor posts were unfilled. He cited 555 vacancies among 559 posts at Jind medical college, 492 at Mahendragarh, 477 of 552 at Bhiwani and 197 of 362 at Nuh. At PGIMS Rohtak, he claimed 341 of 852 posts were vacant. “The govt needs to explain how people will get treatment without doctors and how medical students will receive proper training,” Chautala said during a public outreach programme in Faridabad.Later, at a JJP meeting in Prithla, Chautala asked party workers to strengthen the organisation at booth level and scrutinise electoral rolls during the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR). He claimed around 45,000 votes in the constituency were under the objection process and urged workers to flag missing names to election officials.
