Buxar: A 25-year-old youth died and his father sustained serious injury after a speeding pickup truck hit their motorcycle near Lalganj on the Buxar-Itadhi main road under Muffasil police station area in Buxar on Saturday evening.The deceased, VikasMishra, a resident of Bahuara village, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Sadar Hospital. His father, ShivajiMishra, sustained serious injuries and was later referred to Varanasi for advanced treatment.Shivaji Mishra, who runs a clothing shop near PC College in Buxar, was returning home with his only son after closing the shop when the accident occurred around 7pm.According to police, the pickup truck, allegedly speeding along the route, rammed into their motorcycle near Lalganj. The impact threw both riders on the road, leaving them grievously injured.Local residents rushed the injured father and son to Sadar Hospital and informed the police. Doctors tried to save Vikas, but he died during treatment. Shivaji’s condition remained critical, prompting doctors to refer him to Varanasi.Police from Muffasil police station reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.Muffasil SHO ShambhuBhagat said efforts were underway to identify the pickup truck and trace its driver, who fled the scene after the accident. Police are collecting information from local residents and may examine CCTV footage installed along the route to identify the vehicle and the driver.
