Hyderabad: Heavy showers lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Saturday, bringing temporary relief from the heat but leaving pockets of the city waterlogged. Rain was reported from Gachibowli, Kukatpally, Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Golconda, Khairatabad, Himayatnagar, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills and adjoining areas.The showers began in the afternoon and continued intermittently into the evening, with several areas witnessing intense spells. Waterlogging was reported at multiple locations, affecting traffic movement on some stretches. The rain eased later in the day.India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has forecast more rain over Telangana in the coming days. Its latest warning bulletin issued on Saturday indicates the possibility of heavy rain in the state through Sept 25, with thunderstorms and lightning also likely during the initial days.The weather activity is linked to an upper-air cyclonic circulation that has moved into the north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the region. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast and intensify gradually over the next three to four days, according to IMD.A north-south trough extending from north Coastal Andhra Pradesh towards the Gulf of Mannar is also contributing to the weather activity over the region. IMD has issued a yellow warning for isolated heavy rain in 13 districts, including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool.In Hyderabad, IMD recorded 8 mm of rainfall on Saturday, while the maximum temperature stood at 32.9°C. The minimum temperature was 24.1°C. IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at many places across Telangana on Sunday and Monday, with the possibility of further spells in the following days.
