T’puram: A four-and-a-half-year-old boy was found dead inside a well at Konath, Kotukalkonam near Balaramapuram on Saturday evening after he went missing from his home. The deceased is Deepak, son of Dileep and Sruthi.The child was reportedly missing from the house since evening, prompting family members to search for him in the surrounding areas. As the search did not yield any result, the family informed Balaramapuram Police around 5.30pm.A police team reached the locality and began the search, during which they found the child inside a well near the house. The boy was taken out of the well, but he had already died.The police subsequently initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances that led to the child falling into the well.The body will be subjected to a postmortem examination as part of the investigation. The police are also expected to record statements from the family members and others who were present in the locality.A case has been registered and further investigation is under way to determine whether the child accidentally fell into the well or whether there were any other circumstances surrounding the death.
