Udupi: Devotees unable to travel to Udupi participated in the Janmashtami celebrations at Shri Krishna Mutt through the Sri Mandir app this year, with rituals including Argya Pradana, Abhishek and Krishna Mantra Maha Yajna performed at the mutt by its priests.The app also enabled devotees to contribute in anna daan, an important part of the mutt’s Janmashtami celebrations. Since Sri Mandir app began its association with Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt in June, more than 10,000 devotees have participated in pujas, chadhava and seva at the mutt through the platform, a release stated.Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu were the top five states from which devotees participated through the app during this period.Janmashtami is significant at Udupi as Sri Krishna is worshipped here in his child form, Balakrishna.Prashant Sachan, founder and CEO of Sri Mandir app, said technology should help devotees remain connected with temple traditions when they are unable to travel, without replacing the rituals performed at the temple by priests.
