Panaji: Almost four and a half years after BJP promised in its manifesto to provide every household with three free LPG cylinders annually, Goa govt on Saturday launched Goa Ujjwala Yojana to provide three free cylinders in the financial year.All panchayats across Goa will remain open during office hours from 10am to 5pm this Sunday only to receive duly filled forms of Goa Ujjwala Yojana.Govt set a Sep 9 deadline to transfer Rs 3,000 to beneficiaries but has not fixed any income limit to avail the scheme.In case anyone avails the scheme by providing false information, then govt will act against such person and recover the amount. “We have fulfilled the promise given to the people of the state,” Sawant said, urging women to apply for the scheme.The scheme was launched by the chief minister and Union minister for state Shripad Naik.Existing beneficiaries of the Griha Aadhaar scheme and female beneficiaries of DSSS are also eligible to apply for the scheme.Sawant said that earlier the scheme was only for BPL families, and 9,000 families were benefiting from it. He said govt used to transfer Rs 300 per cylinder to their accounts.
