Kanpur: There appears to be no immediate respite from intermittent moderate to heavy showers as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast continued monsoon activity across all districts of the Kanpur division over the next 24 hours. The forecast for Aug 30-31 indicates a strong possibility of rains accompanied by thunderstorms in several areas.The sky is expected to remain cloudy across the division, with high humidity levels ranging between 75% and 85%.In Kanpur Nagar, dense clouds are likely to build up with the possibility of heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning during evening or night. The IMD said humidity levels above 80% could make the weather feel considerably warmer, with the RealFeel temperature likely to touch 38°C to 40°C.According to weather expert at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, S N Sunil Pandey, partly to heavily cloudy conditions are expected to prevail over the next five days. Several areas are likely to receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Humidity is expected to remain high whenever the sun makes an appearance.Despite the overcast conditions, the maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 33.8°C, while the minimum temperature stood at 25.6°C and the maximum relative humidity was recorded at 92%.Slow north-easterly winds, blowing at a speed of 3.7 to 6.2 kmph, added to the sultry conditions. However, light to moderate rainfall in the afternoon brought down the temperature and provided some relief, making weather conditions more comfortable.The city recorded around 3.7 mm of rainfall during the 24 hours preceding Sunday evening.
