Prayagraj: Strict action would be taken against officials responsible for waterlogging in the Sangam city and no one would be spared, said deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya here on Sunday.The city’s residents may have faced significant difficulties due to the negligence of officials, he said, adding that a detailed action plan is being prepared to prevent such a situation from arising in the future, incorporating the views of local public representatives and involving them in the planning process.Maurya held a meeting with the district magistrate, municipal commissioner and Prayagraj Development Authority vice-chairman, as well as representatives from the irrigation and flood control departments, municipal corporation and PWD and discussed in detail how to prevent a recurrence of waterlogging in the city and directed them to prepare a permanent plan to address it.Maurya was of the view that city’s development has been acclaimed not only within the country but globally but waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall is a result of negligence, and action will be taken against those responsible. “The city will be freed from the recurring issue through the execution of high-quality work within a time-bound manner,” he said.Targeting Samajwadi Party, Maurya said it would be reduced to a party with merely five MLAs and MPs, with its influence confined solely to Saifai.He added that Sanjay Nishad’s long-standing demand to include various Nishad sub-castes in the Scheduled Castes category is already under govt’s consideration.
