Shivamogga: In Shivamogga district, a stone crusher businessman died by suicide in a lodge.A 42-year-old quarry and stone crusher businessman, identified as Naveen Kumar Balagar, was found dead in a lodge room in Shivamogga city. A resident of Gopala Layout, Naveen Kumar had checked into the lodge a few hours earlier, police said.Preliminary investigations indicate that mounting debts and prolonged financial distress may have driven him to take the extreme step. Upon receiving information, officials from Doddapete police station visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.Man dies in accidentIn a separate incident on the Bengaluru-Honnavar Road, a 28-year-old private driver, identified as Veeresh, lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run accident near Veeragarana Byranakoppa, close to Ayanur.Veeresh, a resident of Gadikoppa in Shivamogga, was riding his motorcycle early in the morning when an unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly rammed into him. The impact caused severe head injuries, resulting in his death on the spot.Kumsi police have registered a case, shifted the body to the McGann District Hospital mortuary for postmortem, and launched a search to trace the vehicle and its driver.
