Mysuru: Urban development minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah expressed his support for his father, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, regarding his decision not to contest in the upcoming polls.Yathindra said his father’s health and well-being were more important than politics. “He is now 80 years old and deserves rest. As a son, I will never persuade him to contest again. Once he makes a decision, he stands by it,” he said.On the proposed cabinet expansion, Yathindra expressed confidence that the exercise would be completed within the week after chief minister DK Shivakumar and deputy chief minister Parameshwara hold discussions with the party high command in New Delhi. He also expressed hope that Mysuru district could secure another ministerial berth.Sait hopeful of cabinet inductionMeanwhile, senior MLC and KPCC working president Tanveer Sait expressed confidence that he would be inducted into the Shivakumar cabinet during the forthcoming expansion.Speaking to reporters, Sait said the cabinet reshuffle was likely to be finalised within the next few days after consultations. He said he was optimistic that his name would figure in the final list of ministers.Sait said he missed an opportunity earlier because the CM was from Mysuru district, but believed circumstances were favourable this time. He maintained that his long-standing loyalty to the Congress and his work for the party would be recognised. He added that he saw no need to travel to Delhi to lobby for a ministerial position since the party leadership was fully aware of his contributions.
