Madikeri: Villagers protested simultaneously at the Bhagamandala-Napoklu Road Junction and Karike Road Junction, demanding that road repair work be started immediately to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Villagers expressed their anger by planting banana plants in the potholes.The Bhagamandala-Napoklu Road has potholes, making it difficult for vehicles to move. During the rainy season, it becomes more of a challenge as motorists find it difficult to drive.The office-bearers of Bhagamandala BJP Shakti Kendra also joined the protest. They demanded that the Bhagamandala overbridge repair work be carried out immediately. Villagers in Bhagamandala, Aiyangeri and Chettimani areas have repeatedly appealed to the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam and the public works department to repair the road, but to no avail. Despite repeated requests, the problem has not been resolved, they stated.The protesters demanded that these necessary works be taken up in the Bhagamandala area. On this occasion, public works department engineer Umesh, who arrived at the spot, said that the Talacauvery-Hunsur road work is under review. Tenders have already been called, and the road work will be taken up, he said. After the rainy season, the Aiyangeri-Bhagamandala road repair work will be undertaken. He also assured that the Tannimani-Karike road will be repaired soon.
