Kanpur: Police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly attempting to rape his 15-year-old daughter in an intoxicated state in a colony in Naubasta.According to police, the victim’s mother was away when the incident took place.The girl alleged that her father came home in a drunk state, and began molesting her. She said that when she resisted, he caught hold of her and tried to rape her after which she started screaming.Hearing the girl’s cries, the women living in the colony rushed inside the house, and rescued the teenager from the man’s clutches.Police reached the spot and took the father into custody.DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary said, “A case has been registered against the father on the basis of teenager’s mother complaint. The accused is in police custody. After the teenager’s medical examination, her statement will be recorded, following which further action will be taken.”
