Pune: A 60-year-old man was killed after an unidentified motorcyclist knocked him down and fled the scene in Akurdi on Friday night. The Nigdi police on Saturday registered a hit-and-run case against the unknown motorcycle rider.The deceased was identified as Rajaram Mane (60), a resident of Mohannagar in Chinchwad. His son lodged a complaint with the Nigdi police on Saturday.An officer from the Nigdi police said that around 8pm on Friday, Mane was walking towards Chinchwad along the Akurdi-Chinchwad link road when an unidentified motorcycle, travelling in the same direction, hit him. “Instead of helping the injured man, the rider fled the spot,” the officer said.Mane sustained severe injuries in the accident and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.“We have obtained CCTV footage from the area and are trying to trace the motorcycle rider,” the officer said.
