Rajkot: Rain subsided in Junagadh district on Saturday, but relief and rescue operations continued as the administration tried to clear roads blocked by uprooted trees. Significant rainfall was reported in Rajula taluka of Amreli district during the day.National Highway 51 was damaged near Husainabad village in Mangrol taluka of Junagadh district following heavy rain. The highway connecting Dwarka and Somnath was closed for traffic. The Junagadh district administration, along with the National Highways Authority of India, repaired the damaged stretch on Saturday.Around 900 state transport buses’ passengers were stranded due to the closure of the highway. They were shifted to cyclone shelters, where they were provided food and water.In another incident, 10 ONGC employees were trapped in Buri village of Manavadar taluka due to heavy rain and turbulent waters, which created a flood-like situation. They were rescued by the Junagadh district administration and home guard teams.Nineteen people travelling in an autorickshaw, a car and a van were stranded near Samadhiyala village in Mendarda taluka after the water level rose. The vehicles were unable to move, raising fear of drowning. The Junagadh fire department rescued all 19 people.
