T’puram: City corporation has set July 30 as deadline for service providers, franchisees, and agencies to remove cables that have been unnecessarily installed and are lying broken and dilapidated in an unscientific manner within the city corporation limits.Through a resolution approved by corporation council, this had been demanded earlier. Mayor V V Rajesh and town planning standing committee chairperson Pattur Radhakrishnan addressed the service providers and franchisees responsible for the cables and informed corporation’s decision to strictly enforce safety protocol.It has been decided that if the cables, which have caused numerous accidents and even loss of life, are not removed, the corporation will remove them directly and recover compensation from the service providers concerned.
