Chandigarh: The top brass of the BJP, including national president Nitin Nabin, Union home minister Amit Shah and the party’s national general secretary B L Santhosh, held a meeting late Friday evening with Punjab BJP leadership, including state president Kewal Singh Dhillon and at least five former state chiefs of the party, who were called for the meeting by the party high command to Delhi.In over two-hour-long meeting, the leaders discussed the poll strategy of the party for the upcoming Punjab election. Discussions were also held on Nabin’s upcoming maiden visit to the state.After the meeting, Dhillon said over phone, “Discussions were held about Punjab politics in a very healthy atmosphere. We will be fighting on all the 117 seats in Punjab. The meeting was about party strategy for the upcoming Punjab elections and there was collective discussion on that.”Dhillon said Nabin would visit Punjab from June 20 to 22.Another Punjab BJP functionary who was present in the meeting said, “The meeting was held with upcoming state elections in mind and how BJP can position itself to highlight issues like unemployment, drug problem, corruption, etc. Discussions were also held regarding the timeframe of the campaign for the elections.”Apart from Dhillon and former state presidents of the party in Punjab Sunil Jakhar, Ashwani Sharma, Avinash Rai Khanna, Shwait Malik and Manoranjan Kalia, the others who attended the meeting included BJP national vice-president Saudan Singh, BJP national parliamentary board member Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Union minister of state for railways and food processing industries Ravneet Singh Bittu, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who has been elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, former Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha president and former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s daughter Jai Inder Kaur, and Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin.
