Ahmedabad: The city crime branch (DCB) on Saturday arrested two alleged bootleggers and seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), beer, a car and mobile phones worth Rs 4.6 lakh near Nana Chiloda on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.According to a complaint filed by police constable Vijay Ratansang, the crime branch team was on patrol when they received a tip-off around 6.15am that two men were transporting a large consignment of liquor from Rajasthan in a white car towards Nana Chiloda.Acting on this input, the police team set up a trap near Kanan Residency in New Shahibaug and intercepted the vehicle after placing barricades on the road. The accused were identified as Rahul Bhagora, 28, from Aravalli district, and Rohit Vanzara, 23, originally from Rajasthan and currently living in Meghaninagar.During the search, police recovered more than 1,500 bottles of liquor and 384 beer cans allegedly meant for illegal sale in Ahmedabad. Police also seized two mobile phones and the car used for transport.During interrogation, the duo allegedly told police that the consignment was to be delivered to a man identified as Raju from the Nana Chiloda GIDC area. A prohibition case has been registered against both accused, and further investigation is underway to trace others involved in the racket.
