Buxar: Buxar railway station despite being among top revenue-generating stations continues to fall short in providing essential passenger amenities.The absence of air-conditioned waiting halls and modern passenger lounges forces travellers to spend long hours on crowded platforms. The situation becomes especially harsh during summer, when passengers endure intense heat and humidity with little relief.Regular commuters said while footfall at the station has steadily increased, infrastructure and amenities have not kept pace. Inadequate seating arrangements on platforms affect women, the elderly, and children, often leaving passengers with no option but to sit on the floor or stand while waiting.A passenger Daulat Chand Gupta said facilities such as AC waiting halls and lounges should be developed in line with the station’s revenue. Social activist Shravan Kumar Tiwari pointed to the urgent need for expanded seating and resting arrangements, particularly for vulnerable passengers.Varsha Pandey, BJP functionary underscored Buxar’s religious importance, calling for dormitories and retiring rooms to accommodate pilgrims.Manoj Kumar Yadav, president of Vyavsayi Rail Yatri Sangharsh Samiti, said passengers are forced to struggle even for basic amenities, questioning the efficiency of railway operations.Echoing these concerns, Saurabh Kumar Tiwari, former member of the Danapur Divisional Railway Consultative Committee, said the lack of facilities at such a prominent station demands immediate corrective action.Meanwhile, a redevelopment plan worth Rs150 crore has been proposed for Buxar railway station.
