Hisar: An 89-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by three unidentified motorcycle-borne men while he was sleeping outside his son’s house in Talwandi Rukka village late Saturday night.The deceased, Mahabir, was sleeping on a cot outside the residence of his younger son Om Prakash when the attack occurred on the night of August 15. Hearing his father’s screams, his elder son Balwan, who was sleeping on the terrace, rushed downstairs along with Om Prakash’s wife Suman and son Devender. However, the assailants struck Mahabir repeatedly with sharp-edged weapons and fled on their motorcycle before the family could intervene.Mahabir was taken to a government hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Medical examiners found multiple sharp-weapon injuries on his neck, head, chest, hands, and legs, causing fatal blood loss.The Azad Nagar police have registered a case against three unidentified individuals under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are analyzing viral video footage of the incident to identify the attackers.Police are probing potential motives, including a possible connection to an inter-caste marriage of Mahabir’s grandson Naresh. Naresh had married a woman from the Bishnoi community in Rawat Khera village a few months prior, after which the couple went into hiding. Authorities are investigating whether the marriage triggered hostility or a personal vendetta that led to the killing.
