Vadodara: As many as 815 students received their degrees at the eighth convocation of GSFC University held at Fertilizernagar on Saturday, with female students accounting for 12 of the 17 gold medals.The graduating batch comprised 488 male and 327 female students from the School of Technology, School of Science and School of Management and Entrepreneurship.Padma Bhushan Dr V K Saraswat, former director general of DRDO and former member of NITI Aayog, was the chief guest and he conferred 17 gold and 15 silver medals. Degrees were conferred by GSFC University president P K Taneja, IAS (retd).Vice-chancellor Prof G R Sinha presented the university report, highlighting its academic growth, research initiatives, industry engagement and student development during the year.Addressing the graduating students, Taneja highlighted the university’s growth over the past 11 years from two academic programmes to 26 programmes with more than 3,400 students.Taneja said the university’s approach was centred on three strategic pillars — industry-aligned, technology-driven and future-ready — backed by industry collaborations, experiential learning, research and innovation. He also highlighted 100% placement achievement in BTech chemical engineering, BTech fire & EHS and MSc Chemistry.Saraswat urged graduates to continuously learn, adapt and innovate amid rapid technological changes. He stressed scientific temperament, digital skills, critical thinking, collaboration, resilience, integrity and character, and called upon students to use their knowledge to develop meaningful solutions and contribute to nation-building.
