Rohit Dhankhar died on Nov 29, 2025, following an assault

Rohtak: Eight months after the murder of bodybuilder Rohit Dhankhar of Hamayunpur village, his family continues to wait for justice, with several accused still at large. A khap panchayat on Wednesday reached the Rohtak mini-secretariat and staged a road blockade, demanding the arrest of all those accused in the case.Rohit had gone to Bhiwani on Nov 28, 2025, with his friend Jatin to attend a wedding. During the function, an argument reportedly broke out with some youths who had arrived with a wedding procession from Tigadana village. Later, the same youths allegedly intercepted Rohit on the way and assaulted him. He succumbed to his injuries at PGIMS, Rohtak, on Nov 29.Rohit’s mother, Saroj, broke down while demanding justice at the protest site on Wednesday. She alleged that police were claiming that some accused had fled abroad, and accused the authorities of delaying action. She alleged that the accused included the son of a police official, a doctor’s son and a serving soldier, and claimed that the police were attempting to protect them.Saroj said the family had also approached chief minister Nayab Singh Saini, but remained dissatisfied with the progress of the investigation. Rohit’s uncle Satish Dhankhar said the family had been seeking justice for eight months. He alleged that Bhiwani police had initially registered a case against 13 named accused, but after the case was transferred to Rohtak, the number was reduced to 11. Of these, six have been arrested, while the remaining accused are still absconding, he claimed.Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rajpurohit spoke to Saroj and assured the family of action. He said an SIT had been constituted after the case was transferred from Bhiwani to Rohtak.
